Information on our Sixth Form Courses is available in our Sixth Form Prospectus and at our Information Evening in November 2019. We also hold a Taster Day in November where our prospective students have the opportunity to be a student for the day.

Open Days

November 2019 18:00 - 20:30

There is no need to book and everyone is welcome.

This is an informal evening giving you the chance to find the answers to any questions you may have about your future studies. There are two brief presentations during the evening at 6.00pm and 7.00pm and senior members of staff as well as the Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Fenner, are available to answer your questions. Subject teachers are also on hand to discuss their courses and your possible A level choices. You can visit the two purpose built Sixth Form buildings to view the classrooms and facilities.

Also in November we have a Sixth Form Taster Day - This is an opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with the surroundings, trial some taster lessons, meet staff and make new friends. To reserve a place please complete our online Taster Day application form.

Taster Days

The Taster Day is your opportunity to be a student at The Burgate Sixth Form for the day. You will meet Mrs Fenner, the Head of Sixth Form, the Heads of Year, tutors and of course the subject teachers.

To book your place and choose your subjects for the day’s lessons,
please complete our online Taster Day application form which will be posted here Summer 2019.

Please choose two subjects in each block, ranking them in order of preference: 1st and 2nd choice.

The lessons you choose are taster lessons and will help you to make an informed decision about your A Level choices.

Timetable for Taster Day:

The day begins at 08.30 with a brief meeting in the Sixth Form Hall..

You will then be given your personal timetable and taster lessons will run

for the remainder of the day.

Hot and cold food is available from the Sixth Form kitchen at break and lunchtime.

The dress code for the Sixth Form is smart casual.The day finishes at 15.00.

Wilts and Dorset Buses run 4 buses from Salisbury to The Burgate Sixth Form. These Burgate buses, which are numbered B1, B2, B3 and B4, will be available to you on Taster Day free of charge.

Induction Day

Freshers Induction Day

This important and exciting day is for all students who have applied to join us in September 2019. It is designed to give you a real insight into your chosen A level courses, enable you to meet your fellow students as well as your future teachers and familiarise yourself with the Sixth Form facilities. Transition Packs for each subject will be made available to help you make the step from GCSE to A level.

The Wilts and Dorset Burgate buses are free to students attending Freshers’ Day. For bus routes and times see Transport and Bus Information.

If you have received a conditional offer of a place with us for September 2019 you will also receive an invitation to Freshers’ Day and a programme.
