Life at The
Burgate Sixth Form
Students can expect first class and inspirational teaching in a harmonious and inclusive environment where we cultivate a strong work ethic to ensure each student fulfils their individual potential while also fostering social aspects of college life.
We believe that our students’ learning is particularly enhanced through interactions not only within our immediate school community but with the wider community and encourage students to contribute towards community projects, fundraising and to undertake volunteering opportunities. Students can also join the many clubs, societies and social events on offer and undertake work experience.
We pride ourselves on the level of support available for our students on a pastoral as well as an academic level. Staff are always on hand to support students with any issues they may have whether personal or relating to their studies. We have a professional careers advisor to provide guidance as students consider goals beyond sixth form and offer students access to online resource, ‘Unifrog’ which provides information about degree, apprenticeships and career routes.
Our sixth form contributes strongly to the aspirational culture that permeates the main school; for the majority of our Year 11 students enrolling in the sixth form is a natural progression but we also attract a large number of students from other schools across Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset.
We are extremely proud of the level of success our students attain with academic results of a consistently high standard. The Burgate Sixth Form students leave with the confidence and independence to achieve amazing things beyond college, with many students securing their first choice destination in higher education, training or employment.
