Supply Teachers

 

We always welcome applications from experienced temporary teaching staff who can support our school as needed. If you are interested in being part of our teaching reserve team, please complete the Teaching Staff application form and return this by email to Sarah Hewett, Headteacher's PA: shewett@burgate.hants.sch.uk  

Rate: £26 an hour

Are you interested in a career teaching?  

​Our school has links with several teacher training institutions that provide opportunities for trainee teachers. These offer options through a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) working with Southampton and Portsmouth Universities,

or employment-based training through Schools Direct with Bitterne Park and Ringwood Teaching Alliances.

Science Technician

 

Recruitment Pack 

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Science Technician to provide technical support to the teachers in our well-quipped Science Department. You will be a committed team player who is highly motivated and has effective practical, administrative, organisational and communication skills, along with a sense of humour. The role would suit someone who is able to multi-task, has the willingness to learn and develop and is flexible and adaptable in their approach.

 As a key factor in the success of our Science department, you will help to ensure the smooth running of the department by:

  • Setting up classroom equipment and materials.

  • Ensuring maintenance and care of stock and equipment.

  • General administration with the technician’s role.

  • Be a named First Aider and help to ensure that all members of the science department follow Health and safety procedures.

  • Supporting the overall work of the science department.

  • Carrying out administrative tasks to support teachers.

 

Relevant experience of working as a Science Technician or in a science laboratory or similar setting would be desirable but full training will be provided.

If you are a team player with a flexible approach and a positive, can-do attitude, we would be delighted to hear from you.

  • Full or Part-Time - a job share would be considered.

  • Up to 37 hours per week for 45.20 weeks per year.

  • Salary - £22,183 - £23,893 FTE dependent on experience. Actual pay is dependant on hours and weeks worked.

  • Required for October 2024.
