The Burgate School and Sixth Form provides high quality comprehensive education for children aged between 11 and 18 and we enjoy an excellent reputation within the local community for our high standards. The Burgate School and Sixth Form offers all staff the opportunity to benefit from childcare vouchers, the cycle to work scheme and the loan of a school laptop for specified teaching roles. Induction and in-service training are provided for all staff and there is a special internally run programme for NQTs and another for RQTs, as well as access to a wide range of CPD through our Teaching School alliances and beyond.

Head of RE Recruitment Pack

We are looking for a well-qualified, inspiring classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge to lead our highly successful RE Department. Learning Support Assistant (temporary - one year in first instance)

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support our fantastic students and be a key member of our teaching support team. The successful candidate will join our hard working and friendly Learning Support team and provide support within the classroom, work 1:1 and undertake small group intervention work to support students with SEND. Experience of delivering literacy interventions across year groups would be an advantage as would experience of supporting students at A Level (though not essential as training will be given). The successful applicant will also be required to undertake first aid training and will be one of the school’s first aiders.

Administrative Assistant

We are looking for an enthusiastic Admin Assistant to join our busy and friendly team to provide administrative support to staff and students at our school.  

 

In this role the postholder will help with reception duties, general admin and reprographic tasks, assist with first aid, and data/exams duties as required. It is essential that the person for this role is organised, able to multitask, work flexibly and has a 'can do' approach to work, as no two days are the same.  

 

We are looking for someone who will be able to respond effectively to changing priorities, be able to manage a high-volume workload, use their initiative and work well under pressure as well as having excellent organisational and administrative skills. The postholder will also need to have good numeracy and literacy skills, excellent ICT skills, be confident in the use of Microsoft Office and be a real team player, happy to help out wherever needed.

Interested in a career in teaching?

The school works with a number of teacher training institutions to provide opportunities for trainee teachers. This is both through the PGCE route working with Southampton and Portsmouth Universities, as well as through the Schools Direct training route with Bitterne Park and Ringwood Teaching Alliances.
