The Burgate School and Sixth Form provides high quality comprehensive education for children aged between 11 and 18 and we enjoy an excellent reputation within the local community for our high standards. Our school vision is for every student to enjoy their learning and feel valued for who they are. Students are exceptionally well-behaved and eager to learn in our friendly and inclusive environment and as a result achievement is high at all levels.
We offer all staff the opportunity to benefit from childcare vouchers, the cycle to work scheme and the loan of a school laptop for specified teaching roles. Induction and in-service training are provided for all staff and there is a special internally run programme for NQTs and another for RQTs, as well as access to a wide range of CPD through our Teaching School alliances and beyond.

We do not accept CV's. All applicants must complete the appropriate application form. As a general rule, we are unable to pay travel expenses for those wanting to attend an interview. However, support towards interview travel costs will be considered e.g. if you are travelling in excess of 40 miles, but please let us know so this can be discussed and agreed in advance.

Members
Members are the guardians of the governance of the Trust and are responsible for holding the Trust Board to account to ensure the purpose of the Trust is being met. Please see the role descriptor here for further details.

Supply Teachers

Exam Invigilators and Lead Exam Invigilators
We are seeking Exam Invigilators to join our friendly exams team. In this role you will support students through the examination period to successfully sit their exams. The hours will vary and will be based around your availability. Please note that the role requires prolonged periods of standing.
The salary is offered at £11.87 per hour (pay award pending).
This would be an ideal opportunity for someone who is looking for flexible working hours. You will need to be reliable, a good timekeeper, responsible, have good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. No experience necessary as full training will be given. Interested in a career in teaching?
The school works with a number of teacher training institutions to provide opportunities for trainee teachers. This is both through the PGCE route working with Southampton and Portsmouth Universities, as well as through the Schools Direct training route with Bitterne Park and Ringwood Teaching Alliances.
